Private development of a building of 10 medium-high quality apartments with rooftop swimming pool plus basement parking in the Sant Gervasi neighborhood of Barcelona. Competition by invitation
In an area characterized by the heterogeneous construction, built mainly from the 60’s until now, with narrow streets that only allow an immediate view from the windows of the building to the unfortunate buildings in front, the façade composition is sought with a certain idea of tradition in the design of the opening but with variation in the rhythm of the openings and in the use of stone, plaster and metal latticework, which seek to provide the houses with privacy and a sheltered view through not too large openings and a second perforated sheet metal enclosure, which acts as a veil.
As the building is on the putxet hill, the plot has a difference in elevation of about 25 m between the street and the bottom of the plot. This involves a complex system of emptying and containment of land, carried out through staggered walls as terraces looking for an image of a Mediterranean garden to which the houses overturn.
The first floors are also proposed as duplexes whose gardens are part of the inner courtyard.
