In the northern neighborhood of the consolidated urban center of Cabrils, the site where the new office is located, of rectangular geometry, is located to the south of a partially built-up area, in the middle of a low-density heterogeneous tissue.
We understand the central position of the village in the area as strategic on a municipal scale, since the scattered annexed area, of isolated houses with gardens, lacks urban references.
Therefore, the proposal understands that the placement of the building in relation to the site must respond to the conditions derived from its urban character by integrating its adjacent urbanized space, creating the image of an urban node, forming a set of facilities and a neighborhood square, prior to the access to the building.
The main volume of the office, with two floors, is located in the upper part of the site, tangent to the north separation line, and further away from the urban fabric. The secondary volume, of one floor, is located in the lower part of the site, tangent to the south separation line, and closer to the side of the Carrer Cal Batalló. The main entrance is located between these two volumes, directly related to the access plaza.
The building is positioned in such a way that the longest façades face south and north, allowing natural light and increased ventilation.
The program is distributed in two floors. The ground floor houses medical care, consultation rooms and facilities, and the second floor, where the health personnel areas, meeting rooms and the health education classroom are located.
The waiting and circulation areas, in the south, are visually connected to the exterior and the square, and emphasize its public character. A small courtyard between the two volumes, behind the entrance, allows the illumination of the pediatric waiting area, and access for maintenance and installations. Medical consultations are oriented to the north, facing the backyard, which is more private.
The building forms a compact volume of low height, closely related to the scale of the site. Its façades are proposed with prefabricated concrete elements, such as gelosies for the translucent parts and panels for the blind parts. This gelosia will have the dual function of sun protection and privacy generator, creating a vibrant and changing visual effect, while identifying itself as a traditional element of Mediterranean architecture.
